HUGH SIMSON, Physiotherapist BScHK, MPT, ART

Hugh is a Canadian cross country and steeple chase champion. Founder of Active Motion Physiotherapy, Hugh has an honors degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph and received his Masters Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Vermont. Hugh worked with patients with acute spinal cord injuries at the well known Craig Hospital in Denver, CO before turning to sports injury clinics in both Denver and Calgary. He has a special interest in Active Release Techniques in the treatment of back, hip, knee, foot, and shoulder injuries. Hugh also teaches the popular “Fit-To-Sit” program. When not at work, Hugh can be found with his wife and children on the trails running, biking, and skiing.

JILL McAULAY, Physiotherapist BScPT, CST
With a gift for seeing the whole person within the context of their life, Jill is well known for her caring and intuitive approach to patients. Her distinctive approach to Physiotherapy is accompanied by her extensive training in areas such as spinal manipulation, myofascial release, osteopathic treatment for headaches and back pain, correction of biomechanical issues such as running and walking problems, ergonomic assessments, and cranial sacral therapy for long-standing conditions.
Jill has worked at The Banff Centre since 1998 following five years at sports injury clinics, giving her first hand experience in treating patients from all walks of life including dancers, musicians, theatre and visual artists, office and emergency service workers and athletes.

CORINNE HUGGILL, Physiotherapist BN, BHScPT, CAFCI, FCAMT

Corinne brings over fifteen years of compassionate care to work everyday; three as a Degree Nurse and twelve as a Physiotherapist (seven of which have been at The Banff Centre). Corinne is certified in Medical Acupuncture, Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation. She has experience in Craniosacral Therapy and has taught Spine Stabilization classes for seven years. Corinne has extensive experience in acute and chronic injuries, headaches, spinal problems, postural malalignments and those 'tough to figure out' cases. Corinne is truly dedicated to her clients’ wellness and consistently strives to expand her repertoire of skills to meet their changing needs.

LISA PEARSON, Physiotherapist BScPT, MSc(SpSci), CAFCI, FCAMT

Lisa has been a Physiotherapist since 1989 and has practiced in Canmore for over a decade. Lisa has extensive education including a Masters Degree in Sports Science and advanced professional qualifications in manual therapy and acupuncture. She is an Injury Management Consultant Register of the CPTA for the treatment of MVA injuries and has a special interest in TMJ problems. Lisa enjoys treating sports injures and loves the challenge of helping clients with complex and involved problems and pain. Lisa does custom foot orthotic assessments with a focus on mechanical correction for all of your sporting and work footwear. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, training for triathlons, and practicing yoga.

ERIN STURCH, Physiotherapist BScKin, MScPT

Erin brings a great passion for health and wellness to her position as a %Physiotherapist. She arrived to the Bow Valley by way of Southern Ontario, having completed her undergraduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University followed by a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy from McMaster University. As a former Provincial level swimmer and Varsity water polo player, Erin brings a wealth of athletic knowledge to her job and understands the unique needs of competitive and recreational athletes alike. Having also spent time working as a Kinesiologist and with Rehabilitation patients in hospitals, Erin has extensive experience dealing with a wide range of injuries and conditions. The Bow Valley is a natural fit for her active lifestyle. When not at the clinic, Erin can be found out running, biking and hiking in the summer and shredding the local mountains on her snowboard in the winter.

LINDA BELANGER, Physiotherapist BScPT, CGIMS, MCPA

Linda is originally from Montreal, where she studied Physiotherapy at McGill University from 2001 to 2004. Linda was first exposed to physiotherapy as a competitive gymnast. Her love for sports and helping others is what inspired her to become a physiotherapist. She started her career working in a regional hospital taking care of a diversified caseload (neurology, amputees, total hip and knee replacements, etc) and then moved onto treating mostly musculoskeletal conditions over the last 4 years.
Linda is always looking for new challenges and continually takes part in training opportunities to upgrade her skills. She is currently working towards the completion of a fellowship in manual therapy and completed in the last year her IMS certification. She likes working with all kinds of conditions, from acute to chronic, and has a special interest for shoulder problems. When she is not working, she loves to be outside, either on her mountain bike, her snowboard, her cross-country skis or simply running.

SCOTT EDMUNDS, Massage Therapist BA, RMT

Scott is a Registered Massage Therapist with extensive education and experience. This experience is drawn from a broad patient scope from athletes and performers to chronic pain and acute soft tissue issues. His intuitive approach to massage is supported by assessment skills and study in a variety of musculoskeletal treatments. Scott is well equipped to handle any type of injury, but excels in shoulder dysfunction, hip and core issues, as well as back and spinal pain. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Brandon, and completed the Remedial Massage Therapy program at Western College. His time away from the treatment room is spent skiing, cycling and playing in the mountains.

SHANNON MACDONALD, Massage Therapist RMT
Shannon is excited to be a member of the Active Motion team. Born and raised in Canmore Shannon received her massage therapy training from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria B.C. With a Kinesiology background shannon focuses on combining a well rounded approach to her clients needs and goals, and believes strongly in the benefits of balance in ones life. To ease those aching and painful parts of our body Shannon uses an eclectic approach that includes Myofascial release, general Swedish Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, and stretching to ensure you achieve the results you desire. When not at work Shannon can often be found hiking, mountain biking, running, snowboarding and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.

ALEX LARGE, Exercise Trainer CPT,
Alex has a passion for seeing people succeed through sport and exercise. His motivation comes from a desire to help people recover from injury, improve their overall strength and conditioning, and return to their desired level of activity and sport. Alex works closely with the physio and massage therapists to ensure that all exercises are tailored to meet your individual needs. His expertise continues into the realm of personal training. Whether you are recovering from surgery, looking to get in shape for the coming season, or have a fitness goal that you want to achieve Alex is ready to help you reach new horizons! When not at work Alex can be found skiing, golf, hiking, fishing and mountain biking.
